Director of Social Services and Community Development

Community Living Haldimand (CLH) is a non-profit organization that serves the County of Haldimand, in the province of Ontario. The organization provides supports and services to approximately 160 adults who have an intellectual/developmental disability. Services include residential, supported independent living, community participation, and Passports. CLH is located in Cayuga, Ontario, approximately 45 minutes from GTA West. 

CLH has an exciting opportunity for a new Director of Social Services and Community Development role to help grow the organization to meet the current and changing needs of people requiring support within Haldimand and to support achievement of the organization’s key strategic directions. The Director will focus on the strategic elements of the organization. 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Expand service and partnership opportunities
  • Lead overall planning, development and community relations
  • Initiate and lead new community service initiatives and programs, including non-traditional and fee based services, and family engagement activities
  • Provide service oversight and input into the development of staff knowledge and skills
  • Work collaboratively with the management team
  • Quality assurance and risk management at the strategic level
    • Master’s Degree in a Human Services/Health Care field or combination of equivalent education and work experience
    • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive work experience in relevant/related sectors, with several years in a senior leader capacity; CLH will also value experience from other sectors
    • Candidates that bring knowledge and experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and complex needs and mental health issues is considered an asset
